I don't know how this even came up, but I took an informal poll at work a few days ago, and I'm clearly in the minority here. I like to think of myself as someone who is "hip" or "down" or whatever (kinda like Dr. Evil when he was trying to show his son that he was "hip" by doing the Macarena dance). Anyway, I'm posting this on my website to see if there is ANYONE else who is going to side with me on this trivial issue:
Am I the only person who thinks it's weird for two people to sit on the same side of a booth with no one across from them??? If you're on a double-date or if there are three people in a group, of course two of the people are going to sit on the same side. But when there are just two people on a date? What's the etiquette on this? Is this something you only do on a first date,or is this something you only do after you've been together for a while? I don't know -- it just looks weird to me. Plus, are you still expected to make eye contact while you're talking? Help me out on this.
The other dining etiquette issue I'm not clear on is the whole double-dipping thing. But let's tackle one issue at a time.

Dude, I feel the same way. You might recall I got married... Well, my wife likes to sit side by side, even in the smaller booths! You might also recall I like my personal space. And to boot she's a lefty, and I'm a righty. That's another foreign object in the punch bowl.
